It does not switch off the phone's protection for everything. On older phones the setting is called "Unknown sources" and sits under Security.

The 8MBets iOS route runs through Safari. You download from the same app page, then confirm the developer profile in Settings before the icon will open.

1. Open the app page in Safari

   Other browsers on iPhone may not start the install.

2. Tap the iOS download and confirm

   The app icon appears on the home screen but will not open yet.

3. Open Settings and then General

   Go to the section that manages device profiles; Apple has renamed it across iOS releases.

4. Trust the developer profile

   Tap the profile linked to the app and confirm that you trust it.

5. Launch the app

   Open it from the home screen and sign in.

A trusted profile lets apps from that developer run on your phone. If you delete the app, remove the profile in the same menu.
